THE LODGE

The lodge has well-furnished rooms with twin beds and attached baths with hot and cold running water. The design provides good ventilation and the wooden-tin roof give good insulation in cold weather.
For those in search of relaxation there are quiet jungle sit-outs nearby. The surrounding jungle offers excellent walks.Birding is mostly excellent, more so for the amateur ornithologist, ans just spending time at the verandah and the bird-feeds around the camp will delight you. There are many walking trails through the surrounding jungle. You can choose your own trail. One of the popular walks is from the Kilbury forest rest house to Pangot.
You can go through the forest or along the main road, which rarely sees vehicles pass by. The oak, pine, bamboo, cedar, rhododendron and other conifers make the walk delightfully beautiful and refreshing. The undergrowth is as fascinating with varieties of fern and moss breaking through the rich soil.
The forest gets thicker as you walk further. The trickle of fresh water streams enriches the habitat. You can often spy wildlife around the streams. A host of birdlife inhabits this world. An absolute dream for a birdwatcher, this walk is a must.

Visit to Pangot ..Kafal House was the first stop in our 10 day itinery in offbeat Uttarakhand.The simplicity and comfort of the lodge was immensely gratifying notwithstanding the non-intrusive yet concerned services of the staff.Kafal House ,itself is situated quite unobtrusively in the jungles of Pangot and offers a delightful getaway for a citybred.Initially misleading but the natural charm is quite by chance and oh!so restful.The staff is warm,friendly and informative ,very courteous and fortunately not clinically so like in tourist destinations!!They very much feel like somebody you've known earlier and that by far speaks volumes about the extent of comfort felt by us.The food is delectable and fresh..customised which makes one feel special.We stayed in one of the inter-connected rooms which was basic,simple and very comfortable.The verandah was however used more than the rooms as it provided a great view and the tranquility of the surroundings permeated deep within us
